| EUCC-D is a non-profit organization (NGO). We promote sustainable processes and aid decision making for future-proof coastal development, specifically for water management, pollution reduction, tourism related wastewater challenges, coastal protection & climate change. Key to EUCC-D’s work is stakeholder engagement. We motivate people across all spectrums, we provide platforms for knowledge sharing and prepare scientific research for dissemination to practitioners, policy makers & the public. EUCC-D has experience in international initiatives that support the Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC and EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD). We are in an excellent position to drive knowledge transfer on all water management issues. Over the past 10 years EUCC-D has led capacity building actions and technical demonstrations in projects such as MORPHEUS (2017-2020) on the removal of pharmaceuticals; BONUS OPTIMUS (2017-2020) on blue mussels as mitigation tool for eutrophication; LiveLagoons (2017-2021) to improve water quality in eutrophicated lagoons; HAFF (2020-2022) on nutrient reduction in coastal waters & aquaculture wastewater.
EUCC-D boasts a large multi-disciplinary network of supporting scientists, public authorities, companies, environmental organisations, & education stakeholders across the Baltic Sea and North Sea Regions. We cooperate to help promote uptake of sustainable and innovative water management solutions into the daily life of coastal communities. |
